Giovanna Jona Lasinio

Bio: Giovanna Jona Lasinio’s academic and professional activities have been carried out primarily at Sapienza University of Rome, where, since 2022, she has served as Head of Department. She spent extended periods of teaching, study, and abroad, particularly in the United States, at institutions including Rice University, Penn State, Columbia University, and Duke University. Her research is application-driven and focuses on environmental and bio-statistics, including hierarchical Bayesian models for directional data and methods for ecological presence-only data. She has actively collaborated with the Italian environmental statistics group GRASPA since 1998. Since 2020, her work has included co-founding and contributing to StatGroup-19, as well as developing models for COVID-19 data and scientific communication.
