Ottmar Cronie

Bio: Ottmar Cronie is an Associate Professor in Mathematical Statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Chalmers University of Technology and the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. His research focuses, among other things, on the development of statistical methodology for spatial and spatio‑temporal point processes, with particular interest in model construction, summary statistics, and inference principles that unify theory with applications. He has e.g. contributed to advances in cross‑validation for point processes, non-/semi‑parametric intensity modelling, and statistical methods relevant to epidemiology, ecology, environmental science, and public health. He has been part of several collaborations with interdisciplinary teams, on applications ranging from infectious disease modelling to spatial patterns in forestry and health outcomes. His broader aim is to bridge methodological innovation with scientifically relevant questions, promoting statistical tools that are both theoretically sound and practically impactful. His service to the scientific community includes e.g. editorial work, conference/workshop participation and active involvement in statistical society boards, e.g. the Bernoulli society and the Cramér society.
