Tomás Goicoa

Bio: Tomás Goicoa Mangado is a Professor in the Department of Statistics, Computer Science and Mathematics at the Public University of Navarre, where he is also a member of the Institute for Advanced Materials and Mathematics (INAMAT). His research interests focus primarily on spatial and spatio-temporal disease mapping, with applications to public health and social issues, including the analysis of crimes against women in India. He has made two research visits to the Division of Biostatistics and Health Data Science at the University of Minnesota, where he worked on methodological challenges related to model identifiability and spatial confounding. He currently serves as a member of the Statistics Academic Council of the Spanish Society of Statistics, Operations Research and Data Science (SEIO). In 2021, he and his co-authors received the award for the best applied contribution with impact in the social arena, innovation or knowledge transfer in the Statistics field from the SEIO and the BBVA Foundation.
